Downloading Instagram videos is not a hard task any more thanks to these amazing third-party tools. I bet you have come across a cool video and wanted to download it for safekeeping, then you probably noticed Instagram does not have a built-in download button. They probably have a good reason for doing this, but luckily for us, a few good third-party tools exist to solve this exact problem.
I have found the best tools for downloading Instagram videos on android, ios and chrome using extensions.
First, you will need to go to the chrome extension store and download an extension called downloader for Instagram. Once you have installed the extension you need to go to instagram.com and go to a profile page, for this example, I have chosen @therock.
When the Instagram profile page has loaded, simply click on the Instagram downloader icon in the top right of your browser.
The browser will go through and collect all media on the page, this includes photos and most importantly videos. To download the Instagram video, just click on a thumbnail and the video will start saving to your desktop.
The best way I have found to save Instagram videos to android phones is by using an app called Photo and Video Downloader for Instagram.
Once you have downloaded the app, you need to open Instagram and click on a video you want to be saved. Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the video and a popup box will appear, see image 3 above. You need to click on the copy link and go back to the Instagram downloader app.
As soon as you open the app, it should automatically paste your link into the input field, but if it fails to do this, just hold and paste your link in the text area. The app will then instantly download the Instagram video to your phone in seconds. The video will now be in your DCIM folder on your phone, it will also be saved in the app downloads tab.
I have tried a bunch of Instagram video downloaders for IOS and the best one by a mile is Reposter for Instagram. The app works similarly to the android app where you paste in the Instagram post link.
Once the video has been processed, you will be able to download it using the blue button below. The Instagram video will now be successfully stored on your device.
Quick tip, if you are using these apps to download other user's Instagram videos and photos to repost, please ask for their permission first. As a lot of creators spend countless hours creating content and don't want it stolen. If you need inspiration for creating content, you should use the explore button on Instagram or explore other apps such as TikTok.
